Representing the next generation of solar panel technology, the Solaris 26 maximizes performance while taking up virtually no space at all. The unit’s multi-section design folds up into a compact footprint that’s just a bit larger than a DVD case, while still delivering an impressive 26 watts of power, more than enough to charge a laptop or digital video camera or power a satellite or cell phone. In addition, the unit’s high-performance CIGS solar cells–the most efficient thin-film solar technology available–are extremely reliable, with a design that instinctively converts incident sunlight into an electrical current, even in low-light conditions. The combined functions make this an ideal panel for camping trips, hikes, power outages, and other occasions when it helps to have a portable power source on hand.

The Solaris 26, which measures 21.5 by 37.5 inches when open and 11 by 8.5 inches when folded, includes a battery clamp cable for charging car batteries, along with vehicle outlet and multi-linking cables. It’s also backed by a one-year warranty.

5 Reveiws for Brunton 26 Watt Foldable Solar Array

  1. I got this to power my cell phone and perhaps a MacBook working from outside. I think this thing might power a mouse vibrator. Really disappointed as this panel doesn’t seem to have enough juice to do anything.

  2. Had to take a deep breath before clicking the buy button on this one but very glad I did. The panel comes folded in a small than expected pouch with a variety of aligator clips and charging connectors. I installed a Brunton Charge Controller Brunton Solar Controller Battery Charge Monitor on my Optima Yellow Top battery (by “installed” I mean I unscrewed two screws, inserted the connectors, and screwed them back in) and can connect to the panel to keep my battery topped off while camping. You’ll have to do the math for yourself but I’ve been able to run an Engel 17 fridge and a 55W camp light (couple hours a night) without starting the car for a couple days.

    The way I see it:

54 Amp Hr deep cycle battery

3 amp fridge running 25% of the time = 18 amp hrs

    4.5 amp light running 2 hours a night = 9 amp hrs

Solar produces 2 amps for 6 hours (conservative estimate, I think) = 12 amp hrs back in

End of Day 1 (27 Ah out, 12 in) = 39 amp hrs left

End of Day 2 = 24 amp hrs left

End of Day 3 = 9 amp hrs left

Okay, starting on Day 3 might be a long shot but I’ll update here after a longer stay.

The panel’s easy to mount for optimal sun exposure. I’ve found that some of those bungees with balls on the ends work perfectly to mount on the hood with the top two around the antenna and wiper and the bottom (front) two slid into the grooves of the popped hood. During the afternoon or morning, I hang it off the side from the roof rack.

This panel, is perfect, I have used it to charge everything, it is amazing, everyone should own atleast one. I don’t think I have ever been happier with any online purchase.

  4. Gemisphere says:

I bought this with the Xantrex Technologies 852-2070 XPower PowerPack Energy Pack for the inverter and energy storage. They complement each other really well. The panel is able to collect a great amount of energy and keep things running for hours.

  5. R. Maben says:

Great product. Since it is foldable it works well for camping/backpacking. At the last campout, it was continously in use. It provides the needed power for charging an emergency phone as well as a gps device. When unfolded, this really becomes quite large. The grommets do help very well. Be sure to read the amperage and voltage your device needs prior to purchase. I would recommend this product.

The weight is 27oz for the array + 12V adapter. Or 25 for array only. This is a bit heavy for ultralight backpacking, however, it does have the power at 26W (15.4V/1600mA) needed.
