Tips to consider when hiring Las Vegas Water mold remediation contractors

Hardened water is a curse. If your water is mold ridden, you have a serious problem. That does not mean all is lost. There are always ways of remedying your water. You can do it yourself, or you can hire someone to take care of it. Mold can be seriously a big problem as it can be an indication to other bigger problems. Humid homes have this problem more than other houses. In Las Vegas, finding a water mold remediation contractor is not really difficult; however, you have to determine who you should hire. A lot of factors determine which remediation contractor is best for you. Here are a few tips:

  1. Check with more than one contractor

There are many contractors and a lot of them are honest, reliable, and skilled. However, choosing the right one can still be a cumbersome process. Make sure you receive or invite bids from multiple contractors. This will help you narrow down your search. Do not rely on people who give you an estimate on phone without visiting your location. Be wary of low estimate contractors. While the most expensive doesn’t mean the best, at the same time, the cheapest doesn’t guarantee good work either, especially when it comes to mold.

  1. Knowledge and experience

Who have they worked with? How is their review about your contractor? Would they want to hire him again? These are important questions. Get in touch with your water mold remediation contractor and check for references and reviews. They should be able to point you in the right direction. Ask for the list of their recent customers as well.

  1. Inspection report

Once they come to your house, it is important they provide a written inspection report that includes a summary of all the areas inspected, the cause of the mold growth, how to take care of the problem, and any sampling results they found. Also check into their service quality at this time. Did the contractor show up on time? Did he clean up everything after his work? Did he perform follow up service on warranties?

  1. Certification or license

Any reputable company and technician should be able to provide information on where they are certified through. Check Nevada’s requirements regarding water mold remediation and make sure your contractor or consultant or company follows the state guidelines. Check with Better Business Bureau (BBB) for any complaints filed against the contractor or the consultant. Do not sign on anything that you don’t understand.

  1. Check the contract very carefully

Some contracts contain a clause where substantial cancellation fees or liquidated damages are needed to be paid if you decide not to use the contractor after the cancellation period referred to in the signed contract. Liquidated damages are agreed upon by both the parties prior to signing if the contract is breached. Liquidated damage clauses are perfectly legal but they are often buried in the fine print of the contract. The liquidated damage clause in your contract may mean that you might be liable for as much as the entire dollar amount if you try to get out of the contract after the cancellation period! Be very careful about what you sign.
